Unoccupied Home Insurance
Unoccupied home insurance is the first step you should take in the event of a purchase of a vacation hot spot, a home on the market, or a home you are remodeling, reinventing, renovating, or destroying to put up another home. In either case, you will not be living in your home and it will be unoccupied.
Most home insurance policies don’t cover policies where homes are not occupied so you will need to purchase a separate insurance package to take care of that anomaly and ensure that you will be on top of the world so as to manage any event that could happen in the event of your absence from the home. Some people have homes away from home like really rich people that have homes up in the mountains, beach houses, lake houses, ski resorts, penthouses, or beachfront properties and since these homes are not visited year-round, bad things can happen to them that wouldn’t otherwise happen if you had home insurance.
After all, homeless squatters, vandals, and animal attacks can engender damage to your home that only unoccupied home insurance can protect against. There is no better instance of self-protection than to go with unoccupied home insurance because if you’re rich enough to own a second a home, then you should get unoccupied home insurance just as a backup.
Furthermore, you’re not allowed to let other people stay there if its unoccupied home insurance. Of course, you can stay there, but it doesn’t cover other people that might not be on your plan. Home insurance is the same way with not covering people that are not specifically listed on your plan. Therefore, only let you and your family stay in the home and manage it well lest the company bring the full weight of legal damage to you for not telling them about it, or even worse yet, not giving you your claim.
